Forgiveness Skills and Hands-On Healing

Purchase Forgiveness Reiki Book

I’ve taught hands-on healing to nurses, psychologists, massage therapists, lawyers, doctors, accountants, geeks, carpenters, teachers, preachers, artists, musicians, professors, moms, dads, and hundreds of others whose job was not “hands-on healer.” Everyone can benefit from stress reduction, relaxation, treating insect bites, relief from aches and pains, and other home uses. Many medical professionals not only realize how hands-on healing complements traditional care, some hospitals accept Reiki for Continuing Education Units. Hands-on healing assists with spiritual healing as well as physical and emotional healing. Scripture tells us “all these things and more, you can do.” We may have different gifts and talents but we can all learn hands-on healing. I’ve taught one-on-one, groups, over the internet, over the phone, and even via email, and the only failures were those who never actually tried or those who quit.

Forgiveness Reiki is a hybrid that utilizes the best practices from the teachings of Jesus and the hands-on healing technologies of Reiki. There are some similarities between Reiki practitioners and early followers of The Way: both may be spiritual outliers. What Reiki calls “distance healing” might be called “praying on behalf of another to request the healing mercies of God.” Both serve as role models and not necessarily as evangelists. I always encourage reiki practitioners, the “un-churched,” and the “done-churched” to find a church where they can start healing ministries. Churches who volunteer space and advertise classes may experience growth.

  • Hands on Healing Techniques

Forgiveness Reiki also includes instruction in using hands-on healing techniques to accelerate forgiveness.

We utilize intention + attention (our will and the dedication of time and focus) and discuss how forgiving can be an act of healing ourselves. In every class, we pray a Forgiveness Reiki prayer of Assistance specifically designed to forgive our judgements against the church, hands-on healing, Reiki, and anything else that might block our serving as a vessel for the healing power of God’s love, forgiveness and blessing. Note that we are forgiving, praying to release, the mental constructs we each create. Forgiveness Reiki is never about blaming. Classes benefit from an inclusive and non-judgmental environment.

Forgiveness Reiki is structured on the basis of loving, forgiving, and blessing our neighbors utilizing hands-on healing and distance healing/prayer. Many Christians enjoy the spirituality of hands-on healing to complement what they’ve learned from the Gospel. This spirituality frequently heals some students’ Sunday-for- an-hour nominal approach to religion. However, some who are attracted to the certainty of orthodoxy may fear the pentecostal church or the “uncertainty” of healing modalities like Reiki. No problem. The Forgiveness Reiki class provides both clear instruction and the discernment of boundaries. Learning the professional ethics of a Forgiveness Reiki Practitioner helps students respect and serve others with compassion. Quality Reiki training encourages practitioners to be a clear vessel without attachment of the outcome. Church goers might recognize this as humility and subordination: to do God’s will, not our will.

Even non-Christians can acknowledge that Jesus was ahead of his times and spoke profound wisdom. Some Reiki practitioners are challenged by my love and respect for the church. Some may dislike organized religion, yet view Jesus as a role model for healers. In the Gospels, Jesus is frequently depicted in the act of healing or coming to/going from a healing. I often invite students to consider 1) that Jesus demonstrated his Godliness when he declared in advance of the crucifixion that he would be sending The Holy Spirit; and (2) after Pentecost, Jesus gave his disciples authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every kind of disease and sickness.

Rather than base the value of Christianity on the edicts of Constantine, I encourage Reiki practitioners to study the first few hundred years of “The Way.” (John 16:7 and Matthew 10 NIV). I also encourage Christians to study the five Precepts of Reiki: “Don’t get angry today; Don’t be grievous; Express your thanks; Be diligent in your work; Be kind to others.”

Prayer is knocking on the door of Spirit, introducing yourself, and humbly asking for grace. If we are going to request divine assistance, why ask small? Forgiveness Reiki includes something no other hands-on healing program offers: The Forgiveness Reiki Prayers of Assistance. The Forgiveness Reiki Book includes prayers for Alignment with The Holy Spirit, Sexual Trauma, Forgiving One’s Tribe, Marriage, Survivors of Suicide, Healing the Earth, and more. Depending on the length of the class, some of these prayers will be included. Praying the Forgiveness Reiki Prayers of Assistance more than once is continuing to knock on Spirit’s door, learning by repetition, contemplating what these forgiveness prayers are requesting, forgiving the collective unconscious, and spiritually cleansing on all levels. The Prayers of Assistance overlap in powerful ways. That’s why they are most powerful in toto. I encourage students to pray the most appropriate one first, always following with hands-on healing (eventually praying them all). This is The Big Ask.

Michael S. VanHecke

Whereas many religious leaders only advocate forgiving, Michael Van Hecke teaches how to utilize hands-on healing skills to accelerate the forgiveness process. A long time hands-on healer, he advocates “pouring out the old wine” with forgiveness before pouring in the new wine of prayer or energy healing. He is passionate about society’s need to start thinking of ourselves as healers in order to live more mindfully and more compassionately.

His book, Forgiveness Reiki Hands-on Healing, Distance Healing and Prayer with both Reiki and The Holy Spirit is structured as a response to the question “How could you lead your church in forgiveness at your 16 year old son’s funeral?” Van Hecke discusses Reiki, The Jesus Healing System and many aspects of Christianity to answer that question. He advocates reforming the contemporary church into more holistic spiritual centers for learning healing skills, meditation and mindfulness. He differentiates between healing and blessing (and not judging someone as needing to be healed, or saved). This book includes both Forgiveness Reiki and Jesus Healing System prayers which can be used on their own or to complement Reiki and other hands-on healing modalities.

  • More About Michael

Forgiveness Reiki might be required reading for any serious Reiki practitioner, but the author provides plenty of food for thought for anyone who is spiritually hungry. He includes a modern Apostle’s Creed and discussions on Forgiveness, FauxGiveness, Blessing, healing symbols, using loving emotions as healing symbols, and the physical manifestation of UnLove.

As a longtime member of Davidson United Methodist Church, VanHecke has participated in his Navigators Sunday School class as well as Alpha, The Walk to Emmaeus, and several 32-week Disciple classes. He has enriched his Reiki education with Christian Healing Ministry classes and Order of St. Luke classes. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Van Hecke enjoys public speaking about hands-on healing and forgiveness. He plays bogey golf and, in weaker moments, writes bad song lyrics. The VanHeckes live in Davidson, NC.
